To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place…I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them. - Elliott Erwitt

WHITE PETALS, PERRYVILLE MARYLAND, JAN 2010
Since childhood, I always had a love for photography. My eye behind the lens of a camera; whether a 35 mm, Polaroid, or the 110 Camera and today even using camera phones to capture those timeless memories. (click on links to learn the history of each type of camera)

I admired National Geographic. Collected their magazines and dreamt of growing up and becoming one of their photographers. I would travel around the world! Visit Africa and witness firsthand the wildlife found out in the desert.
A picture can say a lot.
A picture can speak to your heart and soul.
A picture can capture a moment, frozen in time.
A picture can bring someone or some place to you wherever and whenever you desire.

And then there are those times when you least expect to be reminded of a memory and a photo resurfaces.

SURPRISE VISIT TO SEE MY DAD, M.A.B. CARS, LITTLE FERRY NEW JERSEY, JULY 2017
(PHOTO TAKEN BY EITHER MY BROTHER OR COUSIN)
Pictures are life to me... a delicate flower, a tall ancestral tree, a magnificent structure, an antique piece of furniture or a bird bathing in the river. Each are true beauty unfolding. Unraveling. Masterpiece.
I was most inspired to pursue photography in my youth. I was in middle school; in the 7th and 8th grade. I collected album after album, picture after picture. Later in life before my 20's, all of it was lost along with everything I owned. This deeply pained me... but I know this was part of God's plan for my life. (plan to share in a later blog)
I rebuilt. Grew. And God walked with me step by step in creating a new life and rekindling my passion for photography. It has become something much greater than it was.
It's inspiring. Uplifts me. Encourages me. Refreshes me. Connects me. Heals me. And it is because of this very reason I have wanted to share the images I see in the world around me with you. I can never fully capture the vision I see in one moment as I truly see it. But... to get it as close to my reality, as I see God in all of it, is how I want to reveal to you; our Creator and all His creation. This is where Inspired Visions came from. It started back in 1999/2000. But it wasn't until 2011 when I created a Facebook Page to share my photography. I also used Tumblr and Flickr for a brief period.
In 2001-2002 I also tried going to college to get a degree in photography. My dream had to be set aside to take care of my son full time. I was a young single mom then. It was not an easy decision to make, but I knew where my priority needed to be.
Later in my 30's, I found other ways to practice my craft. I was part of a photography group in Maryland. Initially I started with the local library in Havre de Grace, then branched off to the larger group in the county, Harford County Photography Group.
In these groups I was challenged with types of photography I had not worked with before such as Still, Portrait and Architectural. Together we gave healthy criticism, shared tips and what camera equipment and accessories used, including various to enhance images digitally. We also held competitions every month. The best photos were voted on and then showcased in a small gallery. Below is one of my photos selected to be shown at the gallery.

It has been a very long time since and I am in a different place even now then I was back in 2011 when I launched my Facebook Page.
My hope is as you scroll through my photos, you too will find inspiration.
And next time you are out for a walk, or sitting at a coffee shop sipping a drink, or beside a body of water or even at a playground... in that very moment... you stop what you are doing, be fully present, allow your senses to be free, quieted... and embrace what is and let go of what consumes and robs you of time. These are the moments reminding us of what is really valuable. Life.

A great photograph is a full expression of what one feels about what is being photographed in the deepest sense and is thereby a true expression of what one feels about life in its entirety. - Ansel Adams
