I’m Marcy Baez Lopez, formerly Bachelor—a faith-driven woman, bereaved mother, homeschool parent, and entrepreneur. My life is shaped by many callings: professional genealogist, blogger, visionary, photographer, writer/author, speaker, ministry leader, and prayer warrior. And through it all, I continue to grow and evolve as I journey through life.

As a multi-faceted woman in my late 40s, my desire is to inspire others through both my experiences and my passions.

​

My walk with Jesus began 26 years ago, when I was baptized on Memorial weekend in May 1999. Writing and photography have been lifelong loves, but genealogy became part of my story in my early 20s—just after my grandmother passed in February 2005. While holding her father’s funeral card, finally seeing his name, William Horacio Vargas, a new chapter opened before me. That moment sparked a passion that has now grown into 20 years of genealogical experience.

Today, I navigate life as a divorced single mother, carrying the memories and love of the children and pets I’ve lost along the way. My late son, Joshua, passed away on February 5, 2022, at the age of 23. I honor him through multiple platforms and by continuing the work he left behind. I am also mother to twins, Angel and Blessing (early 20s), and Gabriel (late teens). I experienced the loss of another child, Daniel, in March 2006, and our beloved family cat, Princess Junebug, who passed just six months before Joshua in 2021.

Family is everything to me, and that truth is woven throughout this blog. Since launching this platform in the spring of 2021, my purpose has deepened—especially after losing Joshua. My writing now extends into preserving his legacy, sharing my own journey, and honoring the lives and stories of those who have shaped me.

​

Professionally, I am now the official owner of Budget Genealogy, LLC based in Saint Charles, Illinois—offering affordable family-history research, lineage guidance, and casework for others seeking their roots. Becoming a business owner has been a long-awaited milestone in this 20-year genealogical journey.
