Is There No Escape?

Is there no escape?

Naked and exposed.

Violated and abused.

Left to wither and die.

Bleeding.

Wounded.

Cold.

Terrified. Horrified.

I lie still.

Silent.

Alone.

The crowd watches...

In amazement, shock, and horror.

My innocence stolen. Taken.

Ripped away from me.

Mocked.

Laughed at.

I am their entertainment.

Pushed down.

Pressured.

Hands on me.

A public display.

Is there no escape?

City street at night, blurred lights reflected on wet pavement. Moody atmosphere with text "Is There No Escape?" at the bottom.

Behind the Poem

Some nightmares exist beyond dreams. Sometimes dreams leave behind emotions that linger long after waking. This poem was inspired by one such dream — a haunting moment of silence, helplessness, and a crowd that only watched.
