Farewell to a Dear Friend: Trusting God in New Beginnings

Updated: Aug 29

"A sweet friendship refreshes the soul." - Proverbs 27:9a (MSG)

Saying Goodbye to a Dear Friend Embarking on a New Journey

On June 29th, I experienced a wave of bittersweet emotions as I bid farewell to a dear friend, sister in Christ, and life coach, Amy Joob, and her family. They set off on an exciting new chapter, leaving the Chicagoland area to embrace fresh opportunities and new beginnings in sunny Florida. Over the past several months, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside them—praying, preparing, purging, and packing for this extraordinary move.

Since the fall of 2022, Amy has been an anchor in my life, offering encouragement, wisdom, and unwavering support during seasons of grief. Her contagious enthusiasm and compassionate heart have left a lasting imprint on my home, my family, and my soul. Through some of my hardest days, she has been a steady source of strength—listening, guiding, and speaking words of hope and life.

As I reflect, I treasure the countless moments of spirit-filled intercession and fellowship we’ve shared. The deep conversations over coffee, the laughter over shared lunches, and the celebrations where we rejoiced in God’s faithfulness—all of these are etched into my memory. These moments will forever remind me of the profound impact of our friendship.

Now, as Amy and her family step into this new chapter, I send them off with heartfelt prayers. May their journey be filled with God’s favor, new opportunities, and deep joy. May they discover fulfillment in their new home, led by the Holy Spirit and strengthened by the grace of our Savior, Jesus the Messiah.

Though miles may separate us, our bond remains strong. Technology will keep us connected, and I eagerly look forward to hearing about their adventures, accomplishments, and the joys that await them.

June 29th was not a final goodbye, but rather a hopeful “see you soon.” Until our paths cross again, I will carry the love and memories we’ve built together in my heart. True friendships, after all, withstand the tests of time and distance.

To my dear friend Amy, and to your beautiful family—you carry my love, admiration, and prayers with you. Your courage and determination inspire me and so many others. I have no doubt that you will flourish wherever God leads you.

May your travels be smooth, your discoveries exciting, and your future filled with endless possibilities. Farewell for now, dear friend—until we meet again.

Update (August 2025)

Since writing this farewell, I’m overjoyed to share that Amy has released her newest book, Arise from Grief and Flourish Again. It has already become an Amazon hit, resonating with readers who are seeking hope and healing after loss. If you or someone you love is navigating grief, this book offers a powerful reminder that God brings beauty from ashes and hope from sorrow.
