PERSONAL CASE FILES: Unearthing My Own Family History in St. Charles
Wow, what a day of genealogy research in St. Charles! After wrapping up client casework at Genealogy Research - Afternoons, I decided to do a quick search for my own family, and the results were absolutely incredible.
The archives truly always have surprises waiting, even for the researchers! Here are the finds that have me absolutely buzzing today:
A newspaper mention of my first marriage license application! It's wild to see such a personal detail pop up in an old publication.
Right there on the very same list was my brother's marriage license application! We had a good laugh over that one.
Perhaps the most significant find: my grandfather's obituary, filled with information none of us in the family ever knew!

It's moments like these that truly highlight the power of family history research. You never know what gems are waiting to be uncovered, even in the most familiar places. Finding these unexpected details about my own ancestors in St. Charles was a powerful reminder of why I do what I do—for the thrill of discovery and the profound connection to the past.
This personal triumph echoes the excitement I strive to bring to every client project. Whether it's finding a long-lost obituary filled with new family details, or uncovering surprising connections, the meticulous detective work yields invaluable insights.
